Biography William deBacker, OAA MRAIC RSW CAHP(Buildings) Will deBacker is an architect and specialist in building conservation with over 25 years of experience with Spencer R. Higgins, Architect Incorporated. The firm specializes in the conservation of historical buildings and is well-known for high profile conservation projects. Projects in which Will has been involved in include the restoration and upgrade of the Library of Parliament (in joint venture) and the Peace Tower, the Winnipeg Legislature (including its masonry tower, copper dome and Golden Boy), the Regina Legislature (also including the tower and copper dome), the historic facades of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto and churches and other smaller buildings. Will's role in the office includes heritage consulting for municipal compliance, building condition surveys, Historic Structure Reports, project development for tendering including writing specifications, and construction contract administration, all for heritage projects. Will is a board member of OAHP, the Ontario chapter of CAHP, and a past chairman of the Toronto Chapter of Construction Specifications Canada.
