Biography Pourya is a Senior Heritage Planner at the City of Toronto, leading Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Studies, overseeing the development of HCD Plans, and conducting Cultural Heritage Resource Assessments (CHRAs) as integral components of planning studies across the city. His experience spans a wide range of scales, from shaping long-term, city-wide visions through the development of HCDs, Site and Area Specific Policies, Secondary Plans, and Urban Design Guidelines to the detailed design of architectural and heritage conservation projects. Over the course of his interdisciplinary career and diverse professional and educational background, he has developed expertise in multiple aspects of urbanism, including policy planning, master planning, urban design, heritage planning, public engagement, and design strategy. With a strong focus on the intersection of planning, urban design, and heritage conservation, his professional experience and education are dedicated to integrating these disciplines seamlessly. He has been qualified by the OLT as an expert witness in the areas of heritage planning, heritage policy, heritage conservation, & urban design. He is a candidate member of the OPPI. Pourya has a Ph.D. in Urban Conservation from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), awarded in 2013, and holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Faculty of Architecture & Urban Planning at Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran (Iran), which he completed in 2005.
