Biography Octavio Salcedo is a conservator specializing in architectural woodwork. After nearly three decades as a heritage woodwork carpentry contractor, his work experience includes restoration and reproduction of architectural wood elements such as windows, doors, paneling, etc. He utilizes traditional assembly methods and wood finishes. Major restoration and conservation works include, Maison Forget (McDonald Stewart Foundation) interior woodwork, William Osler Library (McGill University), furniture for the Court rooms of the Cour d’appel du Québec (Édifice Ernest-Cormier), St. George’s Anglican Church Montréal window restoration, Atwater Library doors restoration. Octavio has also been participating as a woodwork consultant for the windows conservation works of the East Block Ottawa, ON., the North Park Armoury in Halifax, NS. and the Province House in Charlottetown, PE. Some of his works have been awarded special recognitions, such as the Ville de Montréal Prix de L'artisan and CAHP award twice. He has been also involved in the architectural conservation awareness campaigns of Héritage Montréal from 1999 to present in their annual "Home Renovation Lessons".
