Biography Laura Waldie has developed several years experience as a historical researcher and heritage planner from work with Municipal Heritage Advisory Committees, the City of Nanaimo and the City of Mississauga. This work includes the preparation of Heritage Conservation District Plans, Heritage Impact Assessments for cultural heritage landscapes, development of preservation policy and best practices, site plan application reviews, values-based conservation and public consultations to develop planning processes for Official Plan Amendments. Laura’s recent post-graduate studies focuses on Canadian heritage in an international context by advocating that Canadian Military heritage attributes be included within Heritage Conservation Areas in northern England. Other heritage expertise includes: education and advocacy, cultural heritage landscapes, heritage property identification, natural heritage and ethno-cultural contributions to heritage, writing of heritage By-laws and preservation policy development.
