Biography Hassan Saffarini is the Structural Engineering manager at NORR Architects & Engineers. He has a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK and MSc and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He has over 35 years experience as a structural engineer and project manager, in Canada and internationally, on a range of sectors including many projects that have significant heritage preservation aspects. He is a professor of Civil Engineering and an Adjunct Professor at Ryerson University. His area of expertise as it relates to heritage sites includes assessment of building fabrics including structural and non-structural components such as stone masonry, terracotta walls, vaulted ceilings, etc. He is well experienced as a forensic engineer and has proven expertise in seismic design, particularly as this is applied to historic buildings.
