Christopher Borgal

Biography Christopher Borgal has been involved with over 3000 projects throughout North America and the Caribbean since 1977. His work includes heritage restoration; design for heritage renewal; heritage district planning; and building envelope design in heritage buildings including over 40 museums in historic buildings; historic houses; churches; and significant institutional buildings. He has worked on projects related to the Centre and West Blocks of Parliament Hill in Ottawa; the British Columbia Legislature; Massey Hall; the Royal Alexandra Theatre; the National Ballet School; and the Royal Conservatory of Music among many other prominent sites. He has been a partner in the firm of Goldsmith Borgal & Co. Ltd. Architects in Toronto since 2001 and sole proprietor since 2008 at which time is was renamed GBCA. GBCA is located in Toronto. Christopher splits his time between his Toronto and his Nova Scotia home just outside of Lunenburg NS. Christopher is a recipient of one of 30 King Charles III Coronation Medals (provided through the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada) for his services to architecture in Canada He has also received a lifetime achievement award for his work in heritage projects and sites from the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario and, as well, in 2024, a lifetime achievement award from the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals for his services to that organisation and his work across Canada in conservation.
