Alexandra Blades, Msc, CAPC

Biography Alex Blades is a stone conservator with over a decade of experience in working on masonry buildings, sculptures, and monuments. Alex has extensive experience working in both Canada and the U.K., carrying out conservation treatments and cleaning on high-value heritage assets and structures across public and private sectors. Some of her notable projects include Lincoln Cathedral Connected (U.K.), The Leaves of Southwell Minster Project (U.K.), Saint Marie among the Hurons masonry ruins (Midland, Ontario), and the West and Center Block Parliamentary Precinct projects( Ottawa, Ontario). She joined Capital Conservation Services in 2022, where she continues to apply her expertise as a masonry consultant. She earned her BA in History from Carleton University in 2008, followed by a Diploma in Heritage Conservation from Willowbank School of the Restoration Arts in 2015, and an MSc in Historic Building Conservation from the University of Portsmouth in 2018, where her research focused on the use of hot mixed lime mortars in Canada. She is an an accredited member of The Canadian Association of Professional Conservators.
