Julie Harris has over 30 years experience as a heritage specialist and public historian in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, cultural resource management, policy development, architectural history, Indigenous history, archival research, writing, data management and public participation. Her clients have included various government departments and agencies, including the National Capital Commission, Parks Canada, the Department of National Defence, Public Services and Procurement Canada, Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx, as well as Inuit organizations, First Nations, municipalities, and property developers. Julie is well-known for her expertise on cultural landscape theory and practice, heritage inventories, heritage evaluations, heritage impact studies and major research projects on Indigenous history. She has worked across Canada and in the North and Arctic, while based in Ottawa and, at the start of her career, in Saskatchewan. Julie is a former member of the Ontario Conservation Review Board. She is also a founding director of the Indigenous Heritage Circle.
