Heritage Planning for Practitioners

Interested in the theoretical and practical aspects of heritage conservation planning in Ontario? This is the introductory course for you! Study a variety of topics including the history, legal aspects, and evaluation processes of heritage planning, how to integrate concepts of sustainability and accessibility, and practical management challenges of the field. Learn through lectures, readings, in-class and online activities, discussions, group work, walking tours, and a short paper. Suitable for all knowledge and experience levels. Attendance to all classes is required.

Instructor Profile

As the Managing Principal and Senior Heritage Planner of Letourneau Heritage Consulting Inc.Marcus R. Létourneau, PhD, MCIP, RPP, CAHP has experience working with a variety of heritage resources types and heritage organizations including the public, private, non-profit, and academic sectors. His formal training includes studies in resource management, historical geography, cultural landscapes, museum studies, heritage conservation planning, marine archaeology, dispute resolution, and management leadership. Marcus is a past president of the Ontario Association of Heritage Professionals, and past president for the Kingston Historical Society.
