CAHP|ACECP encourages members to maintain and enhance their professional competency, remain current with heritage conservation theory and methods of practice, and foster cross-disciplinary understanding on an on-going basis.
The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program is currently voluntary and applies only to Professional members, although Interns are welcome to participate. The program’s key objectives are to:
- Promote awareness among the membership of diverse learning opportunities and activities;
- Build upon CAHP | ACECP’s strengths as a multi-disciplinary association by promoting cross-disciplinary knowledge, skills and discourse amongst members; and
- Sponsor the development of learning activities concerning heritage conservation principles, practices and theories relevant to all heritage practitioners, as resources allow.
The Continuing Professional Development Guide provides members with details about the program. Until such time as an online Continuing Professional Development recording system is established, members can record activities on the Continuing Professional Development Recording Form. Reporting Forms are to be submitted annually at the time of membership renewal, beginning in 2018.
The two broad categories of Continuing Professional Development activities include Calendared Events and Self-Directed Learning. Members are encouraged to accumulate a total of 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development annually, with a recommended minimum of 10 hours in each learning category.
Heritage-related activities claimed for credits under another professional continuing education program may also be reported in the CAHP | ACECP Continuing Professional Development program.
Feedback from the membership will be key to developing an effective and appropriate Continuing Professional Development program for all. Share upcoming events with us and we’ll post them to the CAHP | ACECP calendar, strengthening the quality of the program.
