Peter Simister is a founding partner of CSV Architects. With over 40 years of experience, he has been the Architect and Team Leader for heritage and sustainable design projects. Peter believes that preservation and restoration of heritage buildings is an important aspect of historical and cultural memory, and that retaining and finding new uses for historic buildings helps to build strong communities. As a LEED accredited professional, he has a particular interest in combining heritage restoration with sustainable design.
Peter’s heritage services include building assessment, feasibility studies, design, contact documents and contract administration. Peter has worked on projects including O’Brien House, the Ottawa Electric Railway Company Steam Plant, and the Bronson Company Office for the National Capital Commission, Observatory House for Natural Resources Canada, Birkett House for the Embassy of Hungary, the Homewood Museum for the Ontario Heritage Foundation, numerous projects on the Central Experimental Farm for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Pinhey’s Point for the City of Ottawa, and the Rideau Hall Security Kiosks for the RCMP. Peter’s Heritage work has been recognized by two Ottawa Architectural Conservation Awards.
