Ms. Bondarchuk has worked in municipal development planning since 2006 and was appointed to the Heritage Committee as a staff resource in June 2015. She is responsible for heritage preservation activities including, but not limited to, heritage designation, heritage alteration permitting, heritage conservation district planning, archaeological resource assessment, cultural heritage landscapes conservation, heritage granting and preparation of heritage conservation easements. Kandas negotiates with property owners, works with the Heritage Advisory Committee, liaises with a variety of heritage organizations and deals with the general public in pursuit of heritage conservation, preservation, restoration, and promotion. She plans for and manages municipally owned heritage resources and works with a variety of groups to maintain and operate within municipally owned heritage buildings. She performs a variety of duties related to properties of heritage significance, reviews proposals for alterations, and provides technical and research support and advise on heritage planning policies, guidelines and objectives to the public, applicants and other internal and external departments and agencies. In addition to a Cartographic Technician diploma from Sir Sandford Fleming College and a Bachelors degree in Geography from the University of Manitoba, Kandas holds a post graduate certificate in Cultural Planning from the University of British Columbia.
