Joseph Sembrat has over 20 years experience in the field of heritage conservation. His experience ranges from the treatment of the salvaged R.M.S. Titanic artifacts to the conservation of Saturn V rockets. His technical expertise covers surveys and condition assessments, material testing and analysis, quality control and oversight, research and documentation, to contract drawings and specifications. Josephs work has been recognized and has won numerous awards over recent years. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and has authored a long list of publications on conservation-related issues. With over 20 years of experience, Joseph Sembrat has been a heritage conservator on some of the most recognized public and private heritage buildings, house museums and national landmarks in the United States, and more recently in Canada. Some of Josephs involvement includes sites such as the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami, Florida, the Blair-Lee House (the US President's Guest House) in Washington, DC, and the New York City Public Library. Joseph is the acting Head Conservator for the masonry components of the West Block of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, ON which is multi-phased five-year contract. Over the past twenty years, Joseph Sembrat has been one of leading conservators in the North America involved with the preservation of architectural materials, the stabilization and restoration of monuments and sculpture, the conservation and rehabilitation of fountains, military and industrial artifacts. Josephs experience reaches from materials testing and analysis to mock-up design, and the development of specifications for the implementation of conservation treatment. He has been working on the forefront of material and building cleaning techniques, including materials such as masonry, metals, ceramics, glass, wood, terra cotta, and modern synthetic materials. In 1999 Joseph Sembrat co- founded Conservation Solutions, Inc., which has since developed into a leading, international, heritage preservation firm. Joseph has over 20 years experience in industrial and military artifact conservation, mount-making, and exhibit services. This includes rigging and handling of large and complex sculptures and architectural elements, the design of climate controlled environments for collections storage, and the design, fabrication, and installation of display mounts for museums, galleries, or exhibitions.
