Gary Miedema is a published cultural historian with expertise exploring issues of identity, interpreting architecture and artifacts within a larger cultural context, and examining the politics of commemoration and nation building. For the past five years, he has also acted as a public historian working in a government context. He has led the creation of interpretive plans and materials for heritage sites in the City of Toronto, translated research into historical exhibitions for popular audiences, and acted as a guest historian on radio and television.
