David Ecclestone, an architect with +VG Architects since 1998, has more than 20 years' experience leading a wide range of project types including heritage conservation, adaptive re-use and museum buildings. David values education and mentorship of junior staff highly, and has completed several stints as a volunteer design critic at post-secondary architecture programs. He has led extensive consulting teams in the planning, design and construction of complex projects, most recently: ‚ St. Michael's Cathedral Restoration (c. 1848): Received Heritage Toronto 2013 Craftsmanship Award; project includes large structure underpinning, masonry posttensioning and anchoring, timber frame repair, masonry restoration of carved sandstone, limestone, brick, mortars and lead flashings, slate and copper roofing replacement, restoration of plaster, investigation of failed heritage paint systems. ‚ Markham Museum Collections Building: Achieved LEED NC Gold; Project includes high performance building envelope systems, circulation and museum display, environmental containment and controls, ASH RAE "Class A" museum space, museum lighting, storage systems, geothermal heating.
