Craig Newsome has presented lectures to the local Brant Museum & Archives and Historical Society. He has also volunteered on committees dedicated to revitalizing Brantford's downtown and won a Mayors Award for Heritage after restoring a _Brantford Cottageî with his wife. Craigs design philosophy is that additions to historic structures should be compatible with and distinguishable from the historic form while preserving the integrity of the historic place. Also, that new design interventions should embody the spirit and technology of our time and should respect the historic form and not mimic it. Craig has been responsible for several notable commissions involving the adaptive reuse of historic buildings including churches, housing, schools, community health centres, and offices.
