COLE+Associates coordinated a Life Cycle Renewal project for the Aberdeen Pavilion that focused on washrooms, accessibility, floor slab, and main doors (including window and painting repairs). The project began with an extensive documentation of current conditions and areas of concern.

The Exchange is an award-winning heritage project in Vancouver, completed in January 2018. It is Canada’s first LEED Platinum heritage conversion, which included the preservation and rehabilitation of the Old Stock Exchange, and the construction of a new tower beside and over the heritage building.

The Windsor building, located at 1170 Peel Street, has more than a century of history. At the top of its facades is a two-story mansard roof topped with dormers and oculi adorned with copper. Having reached the end of their life expectancy, the mansard roofs were the subject of a rehabilitation project started in 2013.

The Manitoba Legislative Building’s Chamber was in need of dignified access for Legislative Members and other users with mobility constraints. Despite ongoing repair work over its lifespan, the historic Burrard Bridge was demonstrating the effects of age, heavy usage and a harsh marine environment. Opened in 1932, the iconic concrete and steel structure – one of Vancouver’s visual landmarks – was suffering from accelerating deterioration and spalling of the railings, stairs and other masonry elements.

Safety concerns and costs of rebuilding the 130-year-old Brick House on 270 Water St. brought two masons to Tom Morrison at Heritage Standing Inc. The Brick House, constructed with an unreinforced masonry exterior and a timber frame interior, had two deteriorating external walls that were at risk of collapse.

The sandstone and ironwork Wellington Wall is considered a defining element of Parliament Hill. Built in 1872-75 and designed in the Gothic Revival style of the Parliamentary complex, it also shares a similar construction system and rich material palette with many of the Parliament Buildings.

The gateway represents the main entrance into Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens off Yonge Street. The metal work of the gateway was severely deteriorated and the gate was in storage off-site and in similarly poor condition. The masonry piers, part of the gateway assembly, were in need of repointing, cleaning and flashing and the adjacent limestone stairs and retaining walls had to be rebuilt.

The 2007 renovation of the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts deviated from the original design by both replacing and rearranging many of the original design elements. In the rehabilitation of the canopy the team repaired as many of the original elements as possible and carefully selected the appropriate materials and fixtures as similar to the original character defining elements as possible.

Rosanne is a founding partner of EVOQ Archicture, and a specialist in heritage conservation. She has extensive experience in the restoration and rehabilitation of historic interiors as well as heritage planning. She has authored numerous heritage character studies and architectural integration guidelines for institutions and historic districts in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. Rosanne is credited for developing the residential division of the firm for both new and historic homes. She is a popular guest lecturer for Heritage Montreal and various conservation panels. From 2014 to 2017, Rosanne served as President of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).
