
Feb 2020: Update on Ontario’s Bill 108, More Homes, More Choices
In May 2019, the Ontario Association of Heritage Professionals (OAHP) submitted a response to Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries regarding the proposed amendments to the Ontario Heritage Act.
In June 2019, the bill received Royal Assent and now Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries is undertaking consultations on the proposed regulations.
The regulations are set to come into effect on July 1, 2020.
In January 2020, the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries conducted consultations with municipal heritage planners, OAHP and provincial organizations including the Ontario Heritage Trust, Ontario Historical Society, Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, Community Heritage Ontario and the Ontario Association of Architects.

The Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries will be revising the the proposed regulations based on the consultations and posting the draft regulations on the Environmental Registry of Ontario in late February/early March.
Once the draft regulations are posted, OAHP will be asking members to provide comment and will prepare a formal response which will be posted to the ERO. Stay tuned.
