Jo Ann Pynn

Manager, Capital Assets, Economic Development and Culture, City of Toronto

Jo Ann Pynn is the Manager of Capital Assets for the Economic Development and Culture Division at the City of Toronto, a position she has held for the past 15 years. She is responsible for the management of 40 City-owned heritage properties including Fort York, Casa Loma, and Windfields Estate, properties occupied by tenants in the community arts, culture, heritage, theatre, and museum sectors. Ably assisted by a small staff team, her work focusses on heritage conservation and achieving high standards of compliance for archaeological investigation, accessibility, and environmental remediation. She has been privileged to be involved in the cultural planning and adaptive reuse of complex sites like the John Street Roundhouse, the Don Valley Brick Works, and the Guild Inn, currently under construction. In addition to annual investment in state of good repair of these buildings and landscapes, Jo Ann shares responsibility for the conservation of the City’s Public Art and Monument collection. She has a Bachelor of Architecture, and in her 20 years of membership, has served twice on the board of CAHP, most recently as Vice-President.
