Sean McEwan

Sean McEwan Architect AIBC FRAIC is a sole proprietor and consults primarily to the non-profit and institutional sectors. His areas of practice include heritage adaptive re-use projects and heritage advocacy in the affordable housing, health and harm reduction, seniors and child care, and community-based planning sectors.

As a community activist, he was involved with the Portland Hotel Society in the development of InSite, North America’s first stand-alone supervised injection site, situated in a heritage building in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. He has also assisted in installing a detox and treatment facility in this building.

Again as a community activist and later, architect, he was involved in the Mole Hill Community Housing Project, designed in association with Hotson Bakker Architects (later Dialog). This project has been recognized provincially and nationally in various heritage, affordable housing and urban design awards programs.
