2016 Award of Excellence – Conservation – Small & Lovely

The Blinderman Residence

This Arts and Crafts inspired house was designed by the celebrated Canadian architect Percy Erskine Nobbs between 1909 and 1914 as his family home. While the estate changed hands relatively few times, adverse changes were made, maintenance neglected and the arts and crafts landscaping compromised. With the full support of the owners, the house and garden were meticulously restored, including a new slate roof, windows and terrace.

The addition of a garage designed to compliment the home’s architectural style and the dormer windows that Nobbs had originally designed but not built completed the rehabilitation of the property for contemporary living.
