Dr. Christopher Andreae, Ph.D., CAHP
Archaeologist & Anthropologist; Environmental Assessment Specialist
Over the previous 35 years, Dr. Christopher Andreae has established a reputation for preparing heritage impact assessments for a diversity of individual domestic, commercial and industrial buildings, linear road and rail transportation corridors, and cultural heritage landscapes. From 1980 to 2009 he was president of Historica Research Limited in London, Ontario. Between 2009 and 2015 he was Senior Built Heritage Specialist Golder Associates Ltd. Presently he is the Principal of Historica Research.
Chris has extensive knowledge of heritage legislation both at the provincial and federal levels. He has a Ph.D. in Geography (2006), a Masters Degree in Industrial Archaeology (1992), and Masters in Museum Studies (1981). Chris served as president of the Society for Industrial Archaeology (2004-6), as a Director of the Ontario Historical Society (1992-4). He is a founding member of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP), its president in 1988-9 and currently a director. Dr. Andreae has established a distinct reputation for his work in industrial archaeology in Canada and the United States. Since 1981 he has conducted more that 100 bridge heritage impact assessments as well as investigating sites such as hydroelectric generating stations, mines, lime kilns, transportation (rail, water and road) and manufacturing facilities. These sites have ranged from individual properties to large multi-property areas and cultural landscapes. Chris has a valid Professional License to conduct archaeology in Ontario (P202).
